    Radio broadcasting to a wide or "broad" audience started roughly 100 years ago. Over those years the industry has grown and developed into a extensive array of forms and programming formats. It takes many people with a multitude of vocations to successfully transmit and operate a radio station.There are many ways to be involved in the broadcast radio industry, including but not limited to the owner, general manager, production staff, marketing staff, and content talent.

    With 30 plus years in the broadcast talk radio business, Francis Battaglia describes the industry, the careers, and some of the differences between independent and corporate businesses.
